Nagano - Beschreibung
In Nagano leben ca. 356'000 Einwohner. Damit ist die Stadt Nagano die grösste Stadt der Präfektur. Weltberühmt wurde die Stadt durch die Olympischen Winterspiele im Februar 1998. Allerdings wurde der Name permanent falsch ausgesprochen. Betont wird die erste Silbe, nicht die zweite. Nagano gibt es seit der Kamakura-Zeit.
Haupthalle des Zenkō-ji
Niō-Tor (仁王門) und das alte Tempelviertel
Wesentlich älter als die Stadt Nagano ist der Zenkō-ji 善光寺 - ein (buddhistischer) Tempel, welcher wahrscheinlich im 7. Jhd. gegründet wurde. Die Stadt Nagano wurde erst wesentlich später vor den Toren des Tempelbezirks gebaut. Der Tempelbezirk als solcher ist gut erhalten - und beinhaltet eine kleine Tempelstrasse mit Geschäften, die zum Beispiel Hausschreine (butsudan 仏壇) usw. verkaufen. Eine interessante Atmosphäre.
Nebengebäude des Zenkō-ji
Im Zenkō-ji wird angeblich das Ikkō Sanzon 一光三尊 aufbewahrt - die erste Buddhastatuette (genauer gesagt gleich drei), die je Japan erreicht hat. Gezeigt werden sie nur ein Mal in sieben Jahren: 2004, 2011 usw. "Zenkō" heisst wörtlich "Gutes Licht" und bezeichnet ungefähr 60 verschiedene Tempel in Japan. Der Bekannteste ist der in Nagano - jedes Jahr besuchen ca. vier Millionen Menschen den Zenkō-ji! Gleich zwei buddhistische Sekten, und zwar die "Tendai-" und "Jōdo-" Sekte, unterhalten diesen Tempel.
Im Hondō 本堂 - dem Hauptgebäude - gibt es einen dunklen, engen Gang, den man durchschreiten kann/soll. In dem Gang ist es zappenduster - es gibt nicht den kleinsten Lichtschimmer. Den durchschreitet man und sucht dabei den metallenen "Schlüssel zur Erlösung". Ich habe ihn leider nicht gefunden - wahrscheinlich ist er ziemlich niedrig angebracht.
Der Tempel ist gut 1.5 km vom Zentrum entfernt, man läuft einfach die Chūō-dōri 中央通り (Hauptstrasse) gerade aus. Wenn man diese Strasse entlang gelaufen ist, hat man eigentlich auch schon fast ganz Nagano gesehen.
Anreise
Der Asama-Shinkansen あさま新幹線 fährt von Tōkyō-eki und/oder Ueno direkt nach Nagano (Endhaltestelle). Die Fahrt ist nicht sonderlich spannend - die Hälfte der Strecke besteht aus Tunneln. Dafür dauert die Fahrt auch nur 1½ Stunden.
Der Shinano Express しなの特急 fährt über Matsumoto nach Nagoya. Dauert ca. drei Stunden.
Übernachtung
Das Ikemon 池紋 direkt am Bahnhof von Nagano berechnet 8000 Yen für ein Doppelzimmer, quasi 4000 Yen pro Person, was für japanische Verhältnisse halbwegs günstig ist.
An der Chūō-dōri, nicht allzu weit weg vom Bahnhof, befindet sich die Pink Elephant Bar - ein angenehmer Ort für einen abendlichen Drink.
